How we work and fees

Clear steps. A fixed quote first.

You know what we will do, who does it and what it costs before any work starts. Here is the whole process, from the first call to the filed return.

From first call to filed return.

  1. Step 1

    Free check and introductory call

Answer a few questions on our homepage, then talk it through with an IRS Enrolled Agent for 30 minutes. No documents, no obligation.

  2. Step 2

    A written quote

We send a fixed quote that lists every return and form included. If you accept, we both sign a short engagement letter.

  3. Step 3

Your document checklist and secure portal

A checklist built for your situation, covering both countries. You upload documents to the secure client portal as they arrive, never by email.

  4. Step 4

    Prepared alongside Chile

We prepare your U.S. return and work from the same figures as your Chilean contador, so both returns tell the same story.

  5. Step 5

    Review, approve, file

You review a draft and ask questions. Once you approve, we e-file the return and file your FBAR with FinCEN.

What we prepare.

Annual U.S. return from Chile

Form 1040 with the foreign tax credit or the exclusion, whichever fits, plus the FBAR and Form 8938 where they apply.

Companies and investments

Form 5471 for a Chilean SpA or Ltda, Form 8621 for fondos mutuos, state returns, and U.S. rental property.

Catching up

Missed years and unreported accounts, through the IRS Streamlined or delinquent filing procedures, with a plan before anything is sent.

Planning and advice

A move to or from Chile, a property sale, gifts within the family, estate questions and the U.S. side of Chilean decisions.

IRS letters and representation

We answer the IRS for you under a power of attorney, from notices to payment plans and penalty relief.

How fees work.

Every situation is different, so we quote each one. The quote is fixed and in writing before any work starts. If something new appears along the way, such as another account or a company you forgot to mention, we tell you and confirm the change before doing the extra work.

Two countries, clear roles.

We prepare the U.S. side. Chilean returns are prepared by independent Chilean professionals, your own contador or one from our network, whom you engage directly. We coordinate so the figures match.

  • We doU.S. federal, state and estate returns, FBAR and FATCA, U.S. planning, and representation before the IRS.
  • Your Chilean professional doesFormulario 22, monthly Formulario 29, SII matters and Chilean legal advice.
  • TogetherOne set of numbers, the foreign tax credit calculated from what you actually paid in Chile, and one point of contact.

Common questions.

Is the first call really free?

Yes. It is 30 minutes with an Enrolled Agent to understand your situation and explain what would be involved. There is no obligation and we do not ask for documents.

When do I get the quote?

Usually within a few business days of the call, once we know which returns and forms apply.

Can you work with my current contador in Chile?

Yes, and we prefer to. If you do not have one, we can introduce you to an independent professional from our network.

Do I need to send documents by email?

No. Documents go through the secure client portal only. Please never send Social Security numbers, RUTs or account details by email or through a public form.

When does a client relationship start?

Only once we have both signed the engagement letter. The free check, the call and the quote do not create one.
